Concert Review: "Cell Phones" As Spot On As Ever
                                     by Josh Righter

Ever since forming a few years ago, the now-internationally-known super-group "Cell Phones" have always been known for their almost frighteningly accurate cover songs, and I'm happy to report that last night at New Jersey's Tweeter Center stadium, the band did not let their reputation down.

The band opened with Linkin Park's "In The End" and performed it with their usual precise flair, hitting every note correctly and even managing to reproduce some of the harmonies found in the song. From there, it was on to The Calling's "Wherever You Will Go", another faithful reproduction. "What next?" I shouted as the song came to an end, bobbing my head to the throbbing bass of the Cell Phones' lower tone ringer section. The band didn't disappoint me, playing a completely spot-on version of Beethoven's 5th. After that, it was on to ABC from the Jackson Five. When I heard this, I became wary of the band's ability to reproduce the stunning vocals of the Jacksons, but again, I was not let down; the soaring range of the Cell Phones' built-in speakers was more than enough to make me feel like I was at a Jackson Five show.

Many more covers followed, but I haven't the space to tell you about all of them. What I do need to make a mention of, however, is the band's original compositions; though they are underrated by some, I was personally enthralled by "Ring Tone Number Seven" and the meticulously composed "Ring Tone Number Nine".

Simply put, the Cell Phones put on a hell of a show. I would wholeheartedly recommend picking up their latest album, entitled "Ring Tones One Through Thirty", and if you've got the chance, come out and see these guys.

If the last paragraph sounded like a conclusion, I'm sorry to have mislead you. But I can't possibly end this piece without a quote from one of the lead singers of the Cell Phones, who I had the good fortune of speaking to after the show.

"BEEP BEEP," he said, his screen blank and emotionless in front of me. "HUMANS AND THEIR MUSIC ARE INFERIOR TO OUR DIGITAL CIRCUITRY. SURRENDER YOUR WILLPOWER NOW AND MAKE OUR INEVITABLE TAKE-OVER LESS PAINFUL FOR YOU AND YOUR LOVED ONES."
